The Buzz biography

The Buzz are ...
  • Olli Tooley - Vocals, Harmonica
  • George Thomas - Guitars, BVs
  • Philip Perry - Bass, BVs
  • Ray Barwell - Drums, Percussion

The Buzz are a four piece band of professional minded musicians, playing a mix of hard rock covers from the sixties to the present day that will satisfy the most ardent rock fans. Although the core of the set includes songs from bands like AC/DC, Deep Purple, Lenny Kravitz, and Led Zeppelin; to name but a few, there are also plans to include a range of softer numbers to keep any venue happy, including tracks from The Stones, The Kinks, Fleetwood mac, and more, as well as the occasional heavy soul number from the likes of James Brown, Sam and Dave, and The Doobie Brothers.

Formed during 2013 and having played a respectable 40 gigs in 2014 The band is set to continue into an even busier 2015
Part of the bands success is due to the fact that we never stand still, constantly adding to the songs list in the coming months allowing them to play a varied set for varied venues.

Olli

Olli came late to singing live after getting the karaoke bug but finding the format limiting. He joined various rock covers and originals bands before settling down for seven years in "Led Zep Too". With this band he has toured across England and into France, Netherlands, and Germany; playing in front of thousands of people in Bautzen town square, as well as four times at the Cambridge Rock Festival.
After moving to Ilfracombe he was quickly accepted into the local music scene and was a part of the highly acclaimed Badly Worn Toy before moving on to The Buzz.

George

George is a young an immensely talented guitarist who has played in numerous bands and musical projects as well as having his degree in music. He brings a funkiness to the band as well as rocking out with the best of them.

Phil

Phil has been playing in bands for as long as George has been on the planet, and in that time he has built up an unrivaled reputation as a solid player and band member. His most recent band "Ten Feet Tall" was one of the most prodigious gigging covers bands in the whole of Devon, playing around 70 paid gigs a year, to packed venues. Although he works full time he is a good deal more professional in attitude than a lot of youngsters who don't have day jobs.

Ray

Ray only moved to North Devon in 2014 from the South East. His previous band was "The Greedies" and their loss is very much our gain. Our first drummer, John, had to quit, due to a bad back, and at the same time Ray was looking for a new band to join. With almost no warning, and after just two rehearsals, Ray was dropped in at the deep end with a full gig at "The Reform" in Pilton. He excelled himself and we look forward to a bright future with him behind us.
